Home Farm Fishery

The lakes at HFF were established in 1988 and began life as a commercial fish farm. The emphasis then was the breeding of exotic carp – koi’s, Golden Orphe etc. Many of the original fish can still be found in the two main lakes.

In the year 2000, the lakes were bought by the present owner and the day ticket business which we see today was founded.
Please check with Fishery in advance for availability during weekends as matches are run on some weekends.

All matches and reservations for night fishing should be booked directly on 07713 886654.

In 2003 it was decided to introduce Wells catfish to the specimen lake. These would complement the extensive carp stock. Following the purchase of catfish stock from Burton Mere the record catfish now stands at 66lb with larger weights expected soon which is a testament to the water quality and gives a growth rate of over 4lb per year. The carp strains are – common, mirror, ghost and grass carp. The current carp record is a 29lb 13oz mirror caught in 2007. There are well over 150 double-figure carp and many more of 20lb and over. There are also many large Perch, the largest so far weighing in at 4lb 12oz.

the Catfish record now stands at 66lb.

The largest Carp caught so far weighed 29lb 13ozs.

Each year has seen vast improvements. There has been an extensive annual restocking of quality fish and a major replanting programme of aquatic and land-based plants, which gives the site its present-day picture-postcard appearance.

Specimen Lake

Both the specimen lake and the match lake have an abundance of natural features with over 30 established lily pads, mostly 8 meters offshore, and many reed beds. The match lake has 40 pegs, all staged, and the specimen lake can fish 20+ anglers, again all staged.

Match Lake

The match lake holds 16 different species of fish, including Tench, Chubb, Barbell, Carp, Ide, and Bream. The match record to date is 84lb caught in a three-hour session, with the next three weights in the match all over 60lb

For the younger fishermen, there is a 90-metre canal and a junior pool, both extra-well stocked with fish up to 8lb for that important first catch and ongoing action.

Shower Facilities

A new shower room was built during the year and is now fully up and running. It includes a changing room and facilities for shaving etc. There is a nominal charge of £1. Bring your own towel!

Toilet Facilities

A Toilet facility and running water is available on site.
